Brighton newcomers Inky Nite have been making waves since first collaborating during the height of last year's summer lockdown. The pair concoct dreamy kaleidoscopic alt-pop songs; their vocal interplay seeking to echo the likes of Angus & Julia Stone, The xx and Oh Wonder and their sonic backdrop a cool cocktail shaker of other influences, mixing a measure of Metronomy and a splash of Santigold with a twist of Twin Shadow and a burst of Blood Orange. Their sound calls to mind the synth laden dreamscape realised in the soundtrack to cult classic 'Drive' and conjures images of the 80's world depicted in the Netflix sensation 'Stranger Things'. Their second EP, dropping next year, is a worthy follow up, this time around encompassing sonic nods to music greats like Fleetwood Mac.
Inky Nite perfectly juxtapose deep, dark and thoughtful lyrics with effervescent New Wave-inspired hooks, creating a rich soundscape praised by notable musos and already garnering wide appeal across different media.
